In debate
So, I have two fantastic young adult paranormal romance series in mind but I'm torn as to which one should be released first. Explaining the plot, characters, exciting twists and turns would take entirely too long. Therefore, I'm going to ask you to take a leap of faith and on very limited information tell me which paranormal bad guys you like best: witches or zombies? Write me at laury@lauryfalter.com!

An Ode to Witches
My next book series, Residue, combines three elements that have always intrigued me: New Orleans, voodoo, and witches. With the Residue plot continually running through my head and with Halloween so close I figured I'd post a little known fact about witches and their broomsticks.
Long ago, when we relied more on agriculture, the village witch would bless the land and practice jumping through the fields on a broomstick. Those watching thought the witches were actually trying to fly but they were in fact trying to encourage the crops to grow higher. From there, the legend was born and now when you see the very common image of a witch sitting on a broomstick you'll know where this belief originated.

Zombie Apocalypse
Okay, this isn't paranormal and it isn't the least bit romantic, but it is still interesting. Plus, it's about one of my favorite villians. The CDC put up a list of essentials needed in preparation for a zombie apocalypse. If you missed this the first time around a few months ago (and you may have since the the day it was released the CDC had trouble keeping the website page up due to traffic overload) here it is again for your entertainment:

Hello to the world
It's a sunny day here in Vegas - go figure - and I've just created my first blog. To start it off right, I'm going to christen it with a quote from a famous author, Edgar Rice Burroughs. It goes something like this:
'I have been successful probably because I have always realized that I knew nothing about writing and have merely tried to tell an interesting story entertainingly.'
Edgar Rice Burroughs was the one who created Tarzan, by the way. My philosophy exactly Edgar!
